He received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Texas Tech University. Editor of Teaching of Psychology, Dr. Smith received the American Psychological Foundation's Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award in 2006. Bernard C. Beins is Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at Ithaca College.
