Although declared heretical by Rome in AD 705, the Culdees struggled on, until eclipsed by Roman Catholicism in the 12th century. The author posits that Christianity as a church was born in Britain before anywhere else and that England was a ''professed Christian country'' 100 years before Rome, when Rome still persecuted Christians. She draws attention to the singular change ''without any opposition'' from Druidism to Christianity, and that ''fundamentally they had no great difference in belief''. Differences between the Culdees and the much later Church of England are covered. ''New light has been thrown on the origin of the Culdees with whom rests the introduction (and with their successors the defense) of the apostolic Christianity brought by early Christians to Britain''.Notes: This is an explicitly ''British Israelist'' work (i.e. the British as a Lost Tribe of Israel), so everything in it must be taken with a large block of salt as pseudo-history (the primary sources cited may be of interest, though).
